Replies are probably not here for a few reasons. First, most people realize these are things to read and think about. Similarly, if they perceive that there is something here (I obviously must think that there is) and they aren't sure of the "what" or "why," they think some more. Even if it means nothing specific to a reader, and they really don't care if they get it, they usually still realize the inpropriety of responding to issues presented as crucial or central with customary expressions of facile acknowledgement. Finally, most people realize I usually have no time to write long involved answers on the board, so discussion has to happen elsewhere. We talked about what it means to be alive, for instance (and even Auschwitz), for over an hour on Sunday. That is the place where the main discussions can take place.
