I was going to tape that but I forgot it was on....But my favorite thing involving Paul & Jesus was The demon's reply to The Seven Sons of Sceva..."Jesus I know and Paul I know but who are you?"

: This three hour ABC special Monday night was very interesting, and featured many of the best known names in New Testament academics today. I have ordered the DVD and will be glad to loan it, or to have a group night to watch it. Without commercials it is probably closer to 2 1/4 hours, I would guess.

: It featured some of the scholars I especially admire: N. T. Wright, Ben Witherington, E. P. Sanders, Luke Timothy Johnson, and of course, James Strange (my mentor).
:

: I also have respect for: Alan Segal, Paul Maier, Paula Fredriksen, and Pamela Eisenbaum, though I don't agree with everything they believe.

: I have substantial problems with the positions of Spong, Funk, Borg, Crossan, and have written papers challenging their positions. Crossan and Borg are at least worthy of consideration, but I do not waste time with Funk and Spong.

: For more info, here is the ABC site:
: Jesus and Paul — The Word and the Witness

: I also ordered the 2001 special on The Search for Jesus, also with Peter Jennings.

: There is growing interest in the origins of Christianity (and of course a lot of heated debate). But it is a great time to stimulate interest in the real Jesus and the real Paul. :-)
