Now that was a great post. You are a blessing!!!

: "When I am constantly running there is no time for being. When there is no time for being there is no time for listening. I will never understand the silent dying of the green apple tree if I do not slow down and listen to what the Spirit is telling me, telling me of the death of trees, the death of planets, of people, and what all these deaths mean in the light of love of the Creator who brought them all into being; who brought me into being; and you. This questioning of the meaning of being, and dying, and being, is behind the telling of stories around tribal fires at night; behind the drawing of animals on the walls of caves; the singing of melodies of love in spring, and of the death of green in autumn. It is part of the deepest longing of the human psyche, a recurrent ache in the hearts of all of God's creatures. (Madeleine L'Engle)."

: The Zen of Yard work:

: Lately we have been pontificating on the meaning of life, or more specifically; what is life. Saturday, for the first time in a long while, I experienced life. Working out in the yard was a great exercise in "being". The quiet rhythm of raking, the feel of the wooden handle, all help to still the mind. It was such a good feeling watching bag after bag fill with leaves.

: The gentle wind blowing across my face was a reminder that I am never alone. I could feel muscles that I had thought long dead begin to resurrect. All my senses seem to explode into life. Life was surrounding me. I could feel life radiating from everything around me, the rocks, the trees, even the water I was drinking over flowed with it.

: I experienced a new level of intimacy with the friends I was working with. Together taking time out to marvel at some of God's creation that most of the world ignore and step on. Many miss out on the opportunity to learn more of the creator of the universe because they won't take a moment to "be". In that moment, holding that bug, I just wondered at what kind of God would take that much time and thought to create an insect. I could feel the love behind the design. How much more does he love me, and you?

: I could almost hear Him call my name in the wind blowing across my cheek. I could hear his voice in the sunshine on my face. I could hear him say he loves me in the words of my friends. I could feel his presences while the sweat dripped off my face. I could see his love in the birds, and insects that watched me as I worked. I could feel the angels "naming" me; calling me to be more me. He calling me to be who I am meant to be. I felt alive.

: One last paraphrase:

: I name you Pastor Steven.
: I name you Cari.
: I name you Kat.
: I name you Nancy.
: I name you Jason.
: I name you Ryan.
: I name you Alex.
: I name you Jen.
: I name you Mike.
: I name you Tim.
: I name you Bill.
: I name you Marcos.
: I name you Heather.
: I name you Cheri.
: I fill you with naming.
: Be!
: Be, butterfly and behemoth,
: Be galaxy and grasshopper,
: Star and sparrow,
: You matter,
: You are,
: Be!
: Be caterpillar and comet,
: Be porcupine and planet,
: Sea sand and solar system,
: Sing with us, dance with us, rejoice with us, for the glory of creation.
: Be!
: Sing for the glory
: Of the living and the loving
: the flaming of creation
: Sing with us
: Dance with us
: Be with us
: Be!
: You are Named!
: You are.
: You are filled.
: You are.
: Be!
