: : The remarkable point of this is that C.S. Lewis made the decision to include (or at least consider the inclusion of) the lion into his story. The "divine" idea and his decision to build his story from that foundation were the chemicals that created the masterpiece.

: Oh yes, I totally GOT that part. The only thing I was really responding too John's response. For me the spontaneous arrival of Aslan and Lewis' surrender to it was a totally different level of the same idea of his carrying around this picture of Mr. Tumnus in his mind for years.

I think as Christians believing in the Holy Spirit and his work, this is only natural. I mean I branched off about other forms of spirituality, but by far for us, the greatest influence on our imagination and creativity is divine. I've always thought that Christians ought to be the most creative, groundbreaking, original, and radical bunch around. Leading trends instead of mimicing them. Which is why alot of mainstream Christian music bugs me to death. If God is the origin of all things, and Satan can only pervert and not create, why is it that Christians who purport to be "in God" keep copying the style of what is not. We don't need a Christian version of death metal, or gangsta rap, rather we need kickass rock and tripped out hiphop beats that reflect our inspiration. We have the freedom to do this. Many artists are maturing into this I think.

But to get back to the original subject, I beleive C.S. Lewis' work was so amazing BECAUSE he chose to let his creativity flow and to acknowledge the inspiration he received. He's not alone either, there are many artists--giants of human culture, who were directly influenced by their faith.
