Although I don't want us to become another France, I'm not sure this is the battlefield I'd pick. Yesterday I found an online survey that asked if the ten commandments should be displayed on government or school property.

The options were:

a) NEVER, separation of church and state
b) YES, but only if other religious emblems are displayed as a history exhibit
c) YES, let's show those non-religious types

and

d) I don't care

I kept asking for an OTHER option. My option would be something like:

YES, within agreement of a majority of the community in question, and for whatever the ten commandments may symbolize to that group of people. For instance, in India, I don't think too many Muslims freak out over an image of Ganesh on the side of a bus or building, and I'm sure that Hindus walk past mosques everyday.
