Wow! This was a great post! I just realized something too. Wouldn't it be neat if we all listed our most do-able dreams and then helped each other to fulfill them. I mean, not making some huge legalistic obligatory thing out of it, but just keeping it in our consciousness, that when we do certain things, how can we integrate our actions in a way that can help fulfill these little dreams of our friends. For instance, I once had a desire to fill my house with pillows. Marcos might remember this, as we both lived together at that house, THE PINK PALACE. Anyway, we kept our house open to our community and we often spoke of our need for pillows for the living room. All functions at THE PINK PALACE where floor only. Our sofas were huge pillows and cushions. So, in no time our house began to fill up with donated pillows from all our friends. It was quite a scene when one night we looked around and saw Chris (Ash), John, myself, Mark and a few other guys all sprawled out on pillows everywhere. So, I am going to make two lists. My real big dreams, and my local, acheivable dreams. Perhaps if we all knew more about each other we could begin to help make these dreams a reality.
Here goes:
BIG BIG DREAMS:
Life pleasing to God, neighbor and self
Let my family know I love them in tangible way
Do the best art I can do
Get into a car and teach
See Brazil, esp. the city of Curitiba
See India
A better Tampa, more sidewalks and better public transportation
More love of Tampa by people who live here
become at least bilingual
LITTLE DREAMS:
Provide forums for my friends to meet each other
Provide times and spaces for my friends to gather
People to know they can visit me
Find spaces for smaller, informal shows
Also bigger shows
Speak more Spanish, Portuguese and Hindi
Go to Davis Island w friends
Go to the Oriental Store on 19 w a friend
Collect anything that is related to Brasil or India
Want more photos of my friends
Photos of me with friends
Go canoeing! Really! I mean it! (small group 2-4 peeps)
Find small ways to teach in local community, volunteer, or home classes on varying topics
Start a zine
Neighborhood involvement (Neighborhood commitee)
Get some Day of the Dead components, esp. skulls
Find a plaque with a picture of an alpine hiker
Go to parks and beaches more often, con mis amigos
Get studio space at Covivant
Get volunteers to model for drawings, since I can't afford to pay at this point.
