I remember reading this a while ago, when I lived in Cape Coral. After our "Seven Theories of Religion" class, I am able to understand a considerable bit more of this paper. It would seem that the big issues of Theology would have to do more with timing more so than the appearance of another species... especially in the case of Fiat Creationists. Speaking of that, I was interested to note the statement regarding Theistic Evolution and that "One theologian who entertained this idea was C.S. Lewis." (referenced from his book, The Problem of Pain).
