Wow! I moved away for a couple years as well. My job was managing the IT department of the company I was at. I left that job to write code, although I fit more of a "junior" programmer role. This meant that I wasn't really creating an idea; I was merely taking someone else's idea and putting it together as prescribed. Toward the end of my time there, I started writing and playing music again, which gave me the creative channel I had been longing for.
i wonder if our vocation, when we find it, if we are not quite ready for it, i wonder if it is scary to us. it was for me. still is in fact. i am learning to push through it though.
You have just stated something here... What does 'finding our vocation' mean? This is exactly what I am considering. Once you find it, what do you do? Does God somehow 'empower' us to fulfill our calling? How would we recognize it? I'm sure it was clear to Peter, when he lifted the lame beggar at the 'Beautiful Gate,' that God was working through him...
I have been considering these things for a while, because my current vocation is not leading me to an area that I might expect, i.e. music. Things that are important in this arena are primarily business-related or technology-related.
: i am happier now than i have ever been. soul happy. i am writing just what i want to be writing, and i am taking care of my family at the same time. this for me is peace, to a degree i have never known till now.
