I don't think of Heaven or Hell or a state of purgation as literal places, but states. I do not feel the spirit world is bound to all the rules of spacetime. Also, I believe that the quantum world is opening us up to greater ways of seeing the nature of space and time. I don't have too many problems believing that he did or did not go to a 'realm of the dead'. Also, since he is the Word Incarnate I feel his very presence is always a message. He is the embodiment of the Good News.
