I was a relative latecomer, so some of that stuff I missed out on, but learned like the tales told in oral history. I've heard them hundreds of times from various people, (and was even mistakenly included in some of the memories...no one said oral history was factually precise)...but like most things in my life, I tend to come in at the waning...I've witnessed the slow staggering of wounded beasts slowly slipping from their former glory so many times it could really mess with one's psychology. But in all of that I have learned certainly not to cling to anything, past or future. I've learned to see the beauty of decay, and I've learned the blessing of a quick ending. I don't know how this will ultimately help my spiritual development, but I trust everything works to the good. If nothing else, I don't fear endings, and in fact often look for them. I pray my hope can always stay fixed outside of the temporal, and I pray that when I am faced with my own end, I will react with the same peace.

I agree whole heartedly with Give on living in the present. Let's all learn to recognize the opportunities of now and the gifts of today. And don't put things off, but always seize what is available because it may not be there later.
