The reason not to go to their house is that you are no longer your own. You have a wife and baby to think of. If you could just be sure that you would get into a yelling match, that is one thing. However, in this day and age people are crazy. People don't think twice about shooting people or attacking them.
It is better to just go down to the police station dump the car pieces on some cop's desk, or just let it go. Your life is worth a lot more than a mailbox. Just ask your daughter.
