: ruach is roughly translated, life force, right?

: its been a while since we talked about this...

: you are right i do love this. even re-reading now it i am astounded. talk about "balanced". its like all these energies cancelling each other out and resonating, singing, rising, falling.

: this is truth to me because of its, er, directionality. it seems to point in every direction at once. it's sort of like looking at this:

: the surface of the sun

: some of the links to images on this page don't work, but the two below do work, and they are way cool.

: movie one

: movie two

: basically the ruach poem reminds me of electromagnetic forces. very primal and powerful. it reminds me of the visions of the seraphim with their faces pointed in the four cardinal directions. i hope i am getting that right about the seraphim. or the four wheels.

: what is it with four directions? i keep finding this turning up. it seems to have something to do with a particular state of mind. a state that may be common to prophets / artists / seers / visionaries / saints and people with schizophrenia. this thing about four directions, according to one jungian psychologist it has something to do with a state, a latter state of a process that certain schizophrenics might go through if cared for properly in the right environment and without drugs to interfere. i'll have to dig up the text on it and post it. basically the idea is, schizophrenia may be the brain sort of rebooting itself after a trauma of some kind. this idea comes originally from Jung himself. there are supposedly stages, and there is a latter stage in the healing process where the world sort of coalesces or becomes unified in some way. "the world" in the mind of the affected person, of course. i think the way it was described, it is almost a kind of post-apocalyptic stage in terms of the consciousness of the person going through it. in other words one of the stages of healing is something akin to an apocalyptic kind of thinking, complete with visions. when the world becomes divided into four directions then the person who has been having all these visions and so forth, hearing voices and all, is in a latter stage of the process and close to a healed state.

: anyway, bunny trail. yes i love this ruach thing man. blows me away.

I think the whole four directions thing, w the above and below direction added in, has to do with becoming 'oriented in time and space'.
