So my typo sort of ruined the whole thing...or maybe it was my own post in recognition of the typo...but I felt that was important since the question was about good English and the first thing everyone would have pointed out was the typo, thinking that was the point, when really they would have missed it altogether. But it seems my attempt to rectify the problem has led to the exact same consequence in that no one saw anything, or at least posted anything, other than about the typo!

Nevertheless, while it appears that I am valiantly attempting to get this lethargic corpse-like behemoth to respond (CLEAR!!!...nothing, hit it again) I would actually like to know if anyone understood the puzzle.

But of course I know now everyone will intentionally NOT respond to the puzzle simply because I posted this in such a humorous way...and that's just the kind of people many of you are. So before I start running around flailing my arms in the air like a muppet in exasperation, I'll just stop there and if anyone wants to venture an explanation as to why British Tom thought the man was trying to commit suicide go ahead.

Incidentally, speaking of corpses, did you know you can actually be charged with the crime of abusing a corpse if you stop for lunch with one in your herse? True story... really happened...not to me of course...I don't even own a herse...or a horse...and I usually pack a lunch...
