These
are good quality 4x6 pics of fascinating
places
we visited last summer in Germany.
BURG
ELTZ
This is
the magnificent castle of the Eltz family. It is the only castle on the
Mosel River never conquered or destroyed in 1000 years, and is still in
the Eltz family today.

REICHSBURG
This beautiful
castle overlooks the town of Cochem on the Mosel River, and is also nearly
1000 years old. It was partially destroyed by a French invasion in the
1600's, and completely rebuilt in the 1800's according to the original
plans. It was stolen from its rightful owner by Hitler in 1941, and is
owned by the German goverment today.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN
This is
the famous fairytale castle of Mad King Ludwig II of Bavaria which inspired
the Disneyland Castle. This castle is about 120 years old, just a youngster
compared to Burg Eltz and Reichsburg.

KOLNER
DOM
The Dom
(Cathedral) of Peter and Mary at Koln (Cologne) on the Rhine is over 1000
years old. It miraculously survived the bombing of Koln during WWII that
destroyed most of the city.

ROTHENBURG
OB DER TAUBER
Rothenburg
is a Medieval walled city built over the River Tauber (ob der Tauber),
and it is wonderfully preserved. The entire outside wall is intact, and
there are no modern buildings permitted. Rothenburg also is over 1000 years
old, begun in 970 AD with the construction of the first castle.
