: I totally agree about living wills. It's unfortunate that in this age we have to rely on such things, but it is easy to do. Forms are available on the internet and at local hospitals. They just need a witness and notary.

: As for Terri's case, I think the method of death is cruel. I think it is the result of a convoluted legal system that also bans assisted suicide. Thus she can be allowed to suffer to death but she can't be eased into the inevitable by a simple injection. The fact is that many doctors have personal ways of dealing with this issue. As I said before, the laws can SAY things, but the truth is often different. If Terri is meant to live, then I pray she will be able to sustain herself (it is a small miracle for our God). If she is meant to leave this life, then I pray that some compassionate doctor will recognize the inevitable and at the appropriate time will end her suffering.

: And to throw another wrinkle in the whole case, it has potential to set a precedent regarding the rights of a spouse...shouldn't we assume her husband knows her wishes? I'd like to think that the state of marriage automatically affords some rights to my spouse on my behalf. Or can any other party step in and take away what may legitimately have been her wishes expressed to her legal spouse. I know I don't want my parents to have any say in what happens to me or my family.

: That of course is why I not only explicitly stated my wishes in a living will but also granted my spouse exclusive power to make any decisions for me.

: In the end we are pretty much powerless to change the outcome, but we can trust that our God will work all things to good and that He is still in control, though it may seem otherwise. Let's pray that His will be done, whatever that is.

: : I don't hate you Marcos. Actually, I feel somewhat divided over this issue. Considering the removal of the feeding tube I have my own opinion, which is not the courts. But, when it comes to Schiavo's case, like you I feel I don't know what her true wishes were. It just seems like everyone is coopting her predicament for their own agendas. Time for everyone to break out a living will.

: : Bill

First, Marcos, I don't know why you think people would hate you, you are entitled to how you feel about this situation just like anyone else. I don't agree with you at all but I have no animosity toward you as a brother because of your opinion.

A couple things, if these were Terry's wishes, the is a a travesty and one of the cruelist ways to let a person go be with there creator. This is sick and cruel punishment to an animal or pet, much more to a one of God's children, and concerning her husband, he has no credibility in my book to make any decison's concerning her life, he left her a long time ago, new woman, kids etc. I just heard this morning that they feel she is crying out in pain and wants to live, If it was her wishes to die, they should have done this 14 years ago, for some reason God did not allow that then. I have to say this though, it is sick that man is trying to play God and take her life, in the same if any of us decided to quit eating and drinking we would be denying our saviour His control over or substanance and being. This is a wonderful reminder though or our lack of respect of life and morality in general. I know Our God is a God of Grace and we our under a new covenant of through the death of his son, but man I sometimes wish He would pull out a can of some Old Testament woop ass sometimes when people try to do His job concerning life.
